About the role:

Reporting to the National Operations Manager of Logistics, the Distribution Centre Manager requires a broad range of skills. The ability to manage contracts totalling more than $7M and a team of 5 staff. The ability to win customer confidence, effectively influence people (internal and external), provide strong leadership to the client-facing teams, as well as display excellent analytical and problem-solving ability will be key to delivering supply chain success for both us and our clients.
As the Distribution Centre Manager, you are responsible for end-to-end delivery of services, planning and management of resources, relating to customers within a specified warehouse location. You are to ensure all resources, activities, warehouse layout and materials handling activities are in line with Fliway practice methodology, and allocated resources are utilised and coordinated to ensure the agreed customer service standards and safety requirements are met and maintained.

Operations Management:

Oversee the entire distribution centre operations, including receiving, warehousing, and dispatch.

Manage inventory accuracy and control measures to ensure no stock discrepancies.

Optimise processes to increase productivity, reduce costs, and improve service quality.

Collaborate with internal departments (sales, customer service, and procurement) to ensure smooth and timely distribution.

Team Leadership:

Lead, motivate, and develop the distribution centre team

Monitor team performance and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.

Foster a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork.

Health & Safety leadership:

Ensure the distribution centre operates in compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and training to minimise workplace incidents and ensure employee well-being.

Implement and enforce safe work practices in line with company standards.

Inventory Management:

Maintain optimal stock levels to meet business demands without overstocking or causing delays.

Implement and maintain inventory control systems to prevent shrinkage, damage, or loss.

Monitor the accuracy of inventory and execute regular stock counts and audits.

Financial Management:

Prepare and manage the distribution centre's budget, identifying areas to control costs.

Have sole responsibility of the distribution centre's P&L, maximising profitability and reducing commercial risk

Monitor and report on operational KPIs, identifying opportunities to improve cost-efficiency.

Customer Relations:

Liaise with external suppliers, transport companies, and contractors to negotiate best pricing and service terms.

Ensure timely and accurate deliveries to customers, resolving any service issues promptly.

Continuous Improvement:

Analyse operational data to identify trends and inefficiencies.

Implement process improvements to enhance workflow, reduce errors, and improve customer satisfaction.

Stay updated on industry trends and technology to bring innovation into the distribution centre.

What you will bring to the role:

Experienced in Logistics & Contract Management, ideally in a 3PL environment.

Proven experience (5+ years) in managing a distribution or warehouse facility.

Strong knowledge of warehousing, distribution, and logistics best practices.

Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control software.

Strong leadership and team management skills.

Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Ability to work under pressure and react in a fast-paced environment.
