As one of our Development Engineers, you will be responsible for all engineering and infrastructure aspects of the land development, subdivision, and land use consenting process. This is your chance to utilise your experience in civil engineering but also your eye for detail and ability to identify innovative solutions to deliver better outcomes for applicants and the city. You will have an opportunity to review both concept and detailed design and contribute to initiatives to augment and improve the engineering standards.
In this role your focus will be:
Complete assessments for transport (vehicle and active transport modes), three waters as well as amenity and reserve requirements associated with new developments and ensure they comply with relevant engineering standards and District Plan requirements while delivering high-quality built infrastructure.Complete assessments of service connection and vehicle crossing applications to ensure they comply with Council standards and where non-standard are constructed and built with the required additional controls e.g. backflow, metering and consent approvals.Review detailed design for roading and three waters infrastructure to ensure it complies with engineering standards for land development and apply your engineering knowledge to facilitate engineering solutions.Complete hold point inspections during development construction to ensure infrastructure is constructed in accordance with engineering standards.Efficiently track and process consent and services applications to meet Council and statutory processing timeframes while ensuring the level of effort reflects the complexity and risk to Council.Ensure applications are referred in a timely manner to other team members of the Infrastructure and Customer Units as required.About you Ideally, you'll have a detailed understanding of the land development environment, coupled with a relevant tertiary or industry qualification (Engineering or Construction (Civil, Transportation, Building Services)). You'll possess excellent relationship building, leadership, communication, and time management skills, along with your ability to multi-task and work effectively under pressure.
In addition, you will:
