This role is for 16 hours per week, consisting of three clinical and one non-clinical sessions.About the position:As a Dental Officer within the Hospital Dental Service, you will provide a high standard of clinical care to patients in our community requiring dental services. This includes referred patients in a clinic and procedure setting as well as acute patients that present to the Emergency Department during working hours.Dental services are provided primarily in the dental unit, with regular sessions in the Operating Theatre for patients that require general anaesthetic.The Hospital Dental Service requires the development of effective working relationships across multidisciplinary teams, and the ability within a service and organisation committed to continuous quality improvement and to achieving accreditation. Palmerston North Hospital is a secondary hospital and offers most medical and surgical specialties with the exception of Cardiothoracic, Plastic and Neurosurgery. The hospital serves a local population of 180,000 but is the base for a regional head and neck oncology service which has responsibility for a population of 550,000 and draws patients from Whanganui, Taranaki, and Hawke's Bay.
