We're looking for a Democracy Services Advisor to join our energetic and expanding Democracy Services team. This role is primarily based in Queenstown with occasional travel to Wanaka required to attend meetings.
What you'll be doing / He aha te mahi You will play a key role in providing high quality administrative support and governance advice to two QLDC committees as well as various Council Workshops and Hearings, ensuring that statutory requirements and standing orders are properly applied throughout the decision-making process.
The role will primarily involve:
Providing administrative support and governance advice for meetings and workshops of the Planning & Strategy Committee and the Community & Services Committee
Processing delegation amendments and updating the Delegations Register on a monthly basis, as well as undertaking quarterly audits of the Delegations Register and providing advice on delegation matters
Providing administrative support and governance advice for Council Workshops and Hearings as needed
Preparing meeting and workshop/briefing advertisements for newspapers and ensuring that these are published on QLDC's website consistent with statutory requirements
What you'll bring to the role / Ko wai to Pukeka You will have at least 5 years in administrative roles, excellent organisational skills, and a proven ability to manage meetings, compile agendas, and provide clear, concise advice. Strong communication, multitasking, and relationship-building skills are essential, with knowledge of local government processes being a plus.
To best succeed in this role, you'll have:
A bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or comparable relevant experience in public or business administration
Demonstrated planning and organisational skills with an excellent eye for detail
The ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers and gain their trust and respect
Demonstrated ability to accept responsibility and use initiative to prioritise work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines
