Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join our growing team in Auckland, New Zealand. As a Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our data infrastructure to support business intelligence and analytics initiatives.
Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes
Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand data requirements and provide efficient solutions
Implement and optimise data models for improved performance and scalability
Ensure data quality, consistency, and security across all data systems
Develop and maintain documentation for data processes and architectures
Continuously improve data infrastructure to meet evolving business needs
Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues in a timely manner
Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and best practices in data engineering
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years' experience in data engineering or a similar role
Strong proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell, Bash) and ETL tools
Expertise in designing and implementing data warehousing solutions
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and modern data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, SQL Server)
Strong understanding of data modelling, database design, and data governance principles
Experience with version control systems, particularly Git
Knowledge of data security best practices and regulatory requirements
Familiarity with data visualisation tools and machine learning concepts
Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a team environment
Experience with technologies such as dbt, Teradata, Wherescape, Kafka, and microservices is advantageous
