We need a qualified Counsellor to join our Family Support team in a permanent part time position, to support patients and family with grief and bereavement counselling in individual, family, or group sessions.
As a Counsellor, you'll be an important part of a professional and expert multidisciplinary team who collaborate and take pride in patient-centred, holistic care.

Receive referrals and assess the psychosocial needs of patients and whanauInvite people to engage in the counselling relationship and give opportunities for them to share their experienceProvide face to face counselling services drawing on evidence-based practice such as narrative therapyPlay an active role in the multidisciplinary team, communicating cases clearly and contributing to patient managementWork with colleagues and external agencies to provide best support for family/whanauYou have experience in palliative care and/or grief and loss counselling and a genuine interest in and affinity with the work of Hospice.
We're looking for a special type of person who has the life skills and professional counselling experience to provide compassionate counselling services to patients and whanau.
You will allow space for them to try talk about the issues they're facing and how to deal with the multitude of emotions, thoughts and feelings they are experiencing.
You will demonstrate:
A degree or post graduate qualification in counsellingCurrent practicing certificate from either the New Zealand Association of Counsellors or New Zealand Christian Counsellors AssociationA willingness and openness to learning about and work with different cultures and perspectives including Te Ao MaoriA collaborative and motivated approach to working in teamsA natural curiosity and keenness to innovate and try new thingsYou must have the right to live and work in New Zealand.
