Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon Job Description Remuneration Requirements We are currently seeking a highly motivated, skilled, and dedicated Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with demonstrated experience and interest in the public health sector for a full time and permanent role in the continued development of the integrated oral health services of one of New Zealand's sunniest and most picturesque regions. The Oral Health Services are thriving and expanding and have become an essential aspect of providing timely patient care and improving access to services that would otherwise require extensive travel. Services include hospital and community general dentistry as well as oral and maxillofacial surgery. There is tertiary support available in Auckland. The service is based in a regional general hospital with 260 beds and 24/7 emergency department providing secondary medical care to a regional population of almost 200,000. Location The region boasts an abundance of breath-taking coastal scenery and exciting subtropical climates, making it a popular tourist destination. Visitors can explore popular attractions such as the Bay of Islands, Poor Knight Islands Reserves, and Cape Reinga, with a plethora of activities on offer, including beachcombing, hiking, fishing, and surfing. Approximately one-third of the population lives in Whangarei, the main centre in Te Tai Tokerau. It is a 25-minute flight or 2-hour drive from Auckland. Surrounding Whangarei, are smaller towns and rural areas scattered throughout the region making the population widely dispersed. Maori comprise around a third of the population in Te Tai Tokerau. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES Lead and improve the quality of Oral and Maxillofacial services provided to patients Increase the range of Oral and Maxillofacial services available to the population Evaluate the quality of Oral and Maxillofacial services offered Deliver high-quality, safe, efficient and effective acute, elective, inpatient and outpatient Oral and Maxillofacial care. This will involve conducting clinics, ward reviews and surgical lists. Participate in an oncall roster and support other team members ROLE REQUIREMENTS To be successful in your application for this opportunity as the consultant oral and maxillofacial surgeon, we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history: Dentistry Degree registrable by the New Zealand Dental Council Medical Degree registrable by the New Zealand Medical Council Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery) or Specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon qualification registrable by the Medical and Dental councils in New Zealand.
