Job Description
The Runanga profile is upheld and promoted through timely and 'fit for purpose' communication. The Runanga operates a robust internal communication framework that emphasises the importance of timeliness; technology; consistency; confidentiality and effective lines of communication.
Communication between Te Rarawa iwi, hapu marae and whanau represents an exchange of information and dialogue, including listening that supports iwi, hapu and whanau to exercise their relative roles and responsibilities and achieve their individual and collective aspirations.
External Communication The Runanga maintains sound mechanisms for communicating effectively with external parties i.e. Maoridom, central and local Government; business sector, community in general, media and those boards / committees / organisations that have Runanga representation.
Minimum Requirements Relevant tertiary qualification at degree level (minimum) and demonstrates ongoing commitment to continued professional development.
Proficient in Te Reo and versed in Tai Tokerau and Te Rarawa Dialects.
Grounded in a strong understanding of organisational administration functions, while possessing strong skills and experience in communication, planning, writing and coordination.
Proven ability to engage and inspire whanau, hapu and marae to work towards and achieve shared goals.
Experience in communication mechanisms.
Possess strong communication skills, a solid work ethic and the ability to work within a team environment.
Experience in following procedures to ensure consistent practices.
Experience in working with Maori communities and Iwi dynamics.
Excellent time management, planning, budgeting, reporting and organisational skills.
Genuine commitment to Te Rarawa success and familiarity with Te Rarawa traditions and protocol.
Practical knowledge of the Te Tiriti, its history and relevance to Te Rarawa.
Understanding of Te Tiriti Settlement processes and familiar with the settlement background of Te Rarawa.
Experience and understanding in the development of public policy.
Possess strong analytical and research skills.
Experience and knowledge towards social marketing and social media.
Knowledge and understanding around Te Reo me Tikanga.
