The Opportunity
Working closely with the management team, this role is responsible for leading the commercial and strategic financial initiatives that support the ongoing growth and development of this long established and growing medium-sized, privately held business.
Focused across to divisions, the organisation has a 40+ year history of servicing customers across New Zealand and is now looking at the opportunity to expand into Australia, presenting you with the chance to play an influential role in supporting the business in developing its infrastructure through which it can deliver on these growth plans, ensuring a balance between sensible risk management and seizing commercial growth opportunities.
Given the size and nature of the business, this role will be varied and flexible. You'll reap the benefit of a strong network of external relationships whilst also being able to bring in new ideas on how to make steady improvements to the businesses back office functions, ensuring a best practice approach.

With a small group of operating and holding entities, the organisation has continuously been successful, through careful management and the development of timeless partnerships with customer and suppliers alike.
The Role
Production of monthly management reporting and analysis for discussion with the management team
Consolidation of divisional accounts for review and sign off by the external accountant
Provision of strategic advice to the leadership team on growth and expansion opportunities, ensuring a sensible balance between risk management and revenue growth
Oversight of the day-to-day financial operations of the business, ensuring good processes, debtor management and managing external relationships with the bank and other suppliers
Your Profile
Experienced accountant, preferably with experience working with medium-sized commercial organisations at a Finance Manager level
Strong commercial experience including budget/forecast, analysis, operational reporting and the ability to translate numbers into meaningful information to support decisions
An ability to lead the daily finance function including tractions, reporting, payroll and debtor management
Have a good understanding of financial systems and the ability to support the development of best practice processes
Hold full, unrestricted working rights for New Zealand and be based in, or actively relocating to Christchurch
