Collection Transition Assistants Whanganui, New Zealand Reference: 6675176 27 January 2025 to 23 January 2026 Te Whare o Rehua Sarjeant Gallery is one of New Zealand's leading fine art institutions, known for its large and nationally significant collections, heritage building, and diverse exhibitions programme.
In 2014, the Gallery's collection was relocated to a temporary site to allow for earthquake strengthening and redevelopment of the Gallery's iconic building.
It is now time for the collection to be returned back home to the state-of-the-art facility located within Whanganui's historic Pukenamu Queen's Park.
About the role We are seeking four highly motivated people to join our professional team and assist us with relocation and rehousing of the collection.
This would be an ideal opportunity for those who are looking to establish a career in the museum and gallery field.
About you Experience working in a museum or gallery setting.
Able to work unsupervised as well as in a team.
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
High level of attention to detail with excellent communication skills.
This position is physically demanding due to the high frequency of lifting and moving of artwork.
A relevant tertiary qualification; art or object handling and packing skills; and experience with collection management databases would be advantageous.
