Clinical Psychologist - Waiatarau Adult Mental Health Inpatient UnitBased in Waitakere HospitalPermanent, Full-Time role1 FTE (40 hours per week)Waiatarau is the inpatient unit in Henderson serving the community of West Auckland and West Rodney.The team is looking for Clinical Psychologists to provide essential psychological input to the service. We welcome junior psychologists as all psychologists are supported by a strong, collegial, professional network of psychologists within the Waitemata District Health Board.The role involves providing assessments and brief interventions for service users and psychological consultancy to the team and whole-service delivery. The role offers the opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team, peer support, consumer and cultural advisors, and to work alongside service users and their family/whanau as they navigate a time of mental health crisis, to help them make sense of their experiences in the context of their lives, and to move towards resolution of that crisis and recovery.We are looking to recruit a Clinical Psychologist with:Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology or equivalentRegistration with the NZ Psychology Board as a Registered Psychologist with a Clinical Scope of practiceCurrent Practicing CertificateProven psychological, psychometric and neuropsychological assessment skillsExperience in brief psychological interventions preferredExperience in adult mental health settings with inpatient experience preferredThe ability to work autonomously and within short timeframesThe Clinical Psychologist role is supported by a professional senior (Principal Psychologist – Adult MHS) and a professional advisor (Psychology Lead Advisor WDHB) within Mental Health Services. You will also be part of a broader team of 25 psychologists across adult mental health services. Under the APEX collective contract, psychologists receive up to $2500 each per year (pro rata) for Continuing Professional Development which can be accumulated over two years to $5000.
