As the Clinical Occupational Therapy Specialist, you'll join our Forensic Mental Health Service and Intellectually Disabled Persons Health (FMHS & IDPH) providing clinical leadership and governance to Occupational Therapists working across the cluster. You will also be responsible for initiating and leading service improvement activities. Alongside this, you will provide comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessment and interventions for Tangata Whaiora in Te Whare Mauriora. Te Whare Mauriora is an open 12-bed rehabilitative unit based within the Regional Forensic Psychiatric Service, Hillmorton Hospital. The team provides multidisciplinary team (MDT) case management with the Occupational Therapist being a key member and contributor of the team. Ko wai koe | About You We are looking for a professional and highly motivated Occupational Therapist to join Te Whare Mauriora and the SMHS Occupational Therapy team. You will be responsible for: Initiating and leading service development activities across Occupational Therapy and SMHS;Role modelling, coaching and supporting 'top of scope' Occupational Therapy practice across FMHS & IDPH;Carrying out comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments and formulation including sensory processing, cognition and volitional subsystems;Exploring meaningful vocational and recreational occupations that build strengths and minimise vulnerabilities;Taking a lead role in facilitating the therapeutic programme, including individual and group-based interventions in collaboration with other members of the MDT.Working with Tangata Whaiora from diverse social and cultural backgrounds and bringing your enthusiasm and passion to achieve the best outcomes for Tangata Whaiora;Applying range of risk assessments to ensure safe implementation of occupations.Being proactive member of the MDT treatment planning and discharge planning, including liaising and consulting with whanau and community stakeholders to enable recovery-based interventions.You will enjoy being part of a committed and diverse multi-disciplinary team, working in collaboration with a group of professionals that recognises the importance of providing quality care and services to Tangata Whaiora and their whanau;You will be registered with OTBNZ and have a full NZ drivers' licence.Nga pukenga me nga wheako - Skills and Experience The ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the consumer physical, psychological, social, cognitive and developmental level in relation to the presence of mental disorder;The ability to evaluate the impact of treatment outcomes with the consumer / caregiver or significant others and modify treatment according to changing needs;Exceptional communication, organisation, and time management skills.Mo matou | About Us Specialist Mental Health Services are an interdisciplinary team that forms part of Te Whatu Ora - Waitaha (Canterbury).
