Through integration and collaboration, we're building a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whanau-centred care, and excellence.Mo te turanga | About the roleA Clinical Coder is a healthcare worker whose primary responsibilities are the abstraction, interpretation and translation of narrative descriptions of diseases and procedures into alphanumeric codes, according to a prescribed clinical classification system and coding standards. The coded data is used to inform multiple areas such as data for research, funding, and planning, as well as adherence to contracts (both acute and elective). Timely and accurate coding is therefore essential.Recently, two of our Coders have returned to their country of origin, and we are seeking to refill these positions.Clinical documentation is largely paper-based, therefore we require Coders who are able to work onsite.Mo koe | About youPreferred candidates will be experienced Clinical Coders, in using ICD-10-AM 12th edition – with a proven record of accuracy. Alternatively, a person with a clinical background willing to retrain will be considered. This person must be prepared to undertake on-going study, including a distance learning course, to obtain the qualifications necessary for the position.
