We focus on developing strong relationships with our tamariki/whanau through culturally responsive practices – we are a relationship-based learning school engaged in te ara whakamana. We are committed to continually improving our staff knowledge of our turangawaewae (our place to stand) and this includes iwi connections, so that we can provide authentic learning for our children.
We are looking for teachers with the following skills:
Future-focused positive leader/teacher who can effectively lead and work as part of a collaborative and supportive teaching team
Student-centred – an unrelenting commitment to putting people and relationships with people at the centre of what you do
Able to develop strong, respectful relationships with students, their whanau and staff and the school community
Have strong personal classroom practice – planning, delivery and assessment. A reflective practitioner.
Have excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
Prepared to commit to some extracurricular school activities – becoming a real presence in our school community
Think creatively and critically about educational practices across the NZ Curriculum
Understand and is responsive to the importance of students' language, identity and culture
Willing to adopt and support our school values – he aha te ara? We're STOKED!
Enact culturally responsive practices – commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi is vital and Relationship Based Learning practices are advantageous. Training offered.
Enact restorative practices – PB4L experience is a bonus. Willingness to engage in Te Ara Whakamana
Have a keen sense of humour and a love of morning tea is a MUST!
