Position Summary: Our field-focused Staff Engineers embrace ENGEO's culture of continuous learning and can-do spirit. You'll collaborate with ENGEO's experienced Geotechnical Engineers and Geologists, our Construction Services Representatives, your peers, contractors, and clients to solve challenges and ensure projects run smoothly. In short, you'll interact with all stakeholders of a geotechnical project daily. ENGEO's wide variety of challenging projects will keep you on your toes!
Primary Responsibilities: Perform field geotechnical engineering observation work for ENGEO projects working under the guidance of industry-leading geotechnical engineers and geologists: exploratory logging, deep foundation construction, shoring installations, ground improvement, grading operations, and more.Effectively communicate and collaborate with clients, subcontractors, city inspectors, project managers (locally and in other regional offices), and other internal team members.Perform well-defined analytical and project administrative responsibilities with direction and encouragement from project management.Transportation/delivery of samples for laboratory testing as needed.Use GIS technology and smartphone/tablet to create accurate and detailed documentation during the testing and observation process.Learn increasingly more complex, non-routine tasks with review and oversight from experienced engineers and geologists.Requirements: Education: B.S. degree in Civil, Geological Engineering, or Mining Engineering (required)Comfortable spending the majority of work hours outdoors at project sitesPersonal vehicle for driving onto jobsitesMust be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic, and diverse environmentAbility to work and succeed as part of a team while being resourceful when working alone in the fieldAvailable to work overtimeProficient in Microsoft Office suiteOur Ideal Candidate: 1-3 years of professional/relevant internship/field experienceDesire to pursue a Master's in Geotechnical EngineeringBasic knowledge of civil engineering fundamentals and soil mechanicsPositive attitude with a desire to continually learn and growExceptional communication and interpersonal skillsDriven to go above and beyond in client serviceA few Notable Projects: Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, Los Angeles, CAMultiple Technology Campuses for Google, YouTube, and Facebook, Bay Area, CATaranaki Base Hospital, New Plymouth, New ZealandTransmission Gully Highway, Wellington, New ZealandKaikoura Earthquake rehabilitation of State Highway and Railway, South Island, New ZealandBenefit Highlights: Our most important asset is our employees.
