Children's Counsellor Dunedin and South Otago Part Time or Fulltime hours depending on candidate (could be shared between two people) and hours includes travel time to and from South Otago.
Catholic Social Services has been making a difference helping people live life well for over 50 years.
We offer a range of social services including low cost counselling, social work, community support and parenting education groups to meet the needs of our communities in Otago.
In continuing to respond to the needs of communities, we are inviting applications for a children's counsellor to join our team and make a difference for children in primary schools in South Otago.
The role involves providing counselling support for our Whakarakona Mai - Hearing You service helping students aged 5-18 attending schools across the Balclutha are and potentially Dunedin.
The counsellor will be expected to travel to  schools on a rotational basis and be available to meet children throughout the school terms and during school hours.
The counsellor will be supported by the team at CSS and the leadership of the individual school communities.
Professional supervision, peer support and training will also be offered.
An appropriate qualification and registration with The New Zealand Association of Counsellors (or other associated professional body) is necessary.
You will also be required to undertake full safety checking to work with children.
The successful applicant will be a team player willing to co-work with other professionals in a way that is consistent with both CSS values and that of the local school community.
The ability to demonstrate a creative and innovative approach to helping young people find a way through their present issues into a greater sense of well-being is also essential along with an ability to practice in ways that honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
