Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Chief Scientist forms part of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) at ESR and is responsible for leading the development and delivery of ESR's Science Strategy.
The Chief Scientist will work with members of our Executive Leadership Team to ensure the science underpinning our critical infrastructure roles for Aotearoa New Zealand in health security and forensics is excellent, underpinned by cutting edge research and innovation, and internationally connected.
This is a nationally and internationally prominent scientific leadership opportunity to strengthen collaborative strategic institutional partnerships, especially with universities, industry, and other organisations locally and on a global level.

To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate the following:
An appropriate postgraduate tertiary qualification at PhD level in Science.
Recognised scientific leadership at a national and international level.
Proven experience in building national and international partnerships and leading collaboration with others.
Demonstrable experience in the development and implementation of strategy in a science, commercial and political setting.
Significant experience in leading and motivating diverse teams.
Proven experience of performing effectively as part of an executive leadership team.
