Malo is a busy, modern restaurant in the heart of Havelock North, Hawke's Bay. We are looking for an experienced Chef de Partie to join our team. You'll be an integral part of a dynamic kitchen team who pride themselves on cooking delicious food and delighting guests every service, every day.
You'll like the idea of working in an energetic, fast-paced and social environment where no two days are the same. You'll be a smooth team player, super reliable and a strong communicator. This is a permanent, full-time role offering 5 rostered shifts in a 7 day period. We operate 7 days per week, so you'll need to be able to work a range of shifts across any given week and weekend.
2 years' experience in a busy, similar fast-paced kitchen is ideal, but what we truly want is someone with the right attitude. Someone who cares about the quality of their work. Someone with high standards, eye for detail, self-discipline and a hunger to learn more.
The primary purpose of the Chef de Partie is to support the Head Chef and Sous Chef. You'll be a leader, trainer and mentor to Junior Chefs and Kitchen Hands.
Key skills:
Preparation of the food, menu and stock management.
Knowledge of raw materials, production process, quality control, and costs.
Ability to execute and follow a food control plan.
Consistency with prep, cooking, plating to a high level.
Responsible and sole charge of your section.
We offer competitive remuneration based on experience plus a 50% discount on food and beverage at our restaurant , and flexible rostering.
This is a full-time role with a minimum of 32 hours guaranteed per week at our restaurant in Havelock North, Hawke's Bay.
