Make a difference as a Business Development Manager About the Role In this Business Development Manager role, you'll be responsible for management of broker portfolios and developing strategic business plans for our key broker partners alongside identification and development of substantial business opportunities. The position requires a close working relationship with our Senior underwriters and underwriting teams as well as delivering quality service and support to our broker partners.
Key responsibilities: Develop and grow relationships with allocated brokers to maximise business opportunities by analysing existing business profile and identifying and developing opportunities which met segmentation, risk and profit objectives. Develop new business and quotation strike-rates for brokers, renewal retention rates, growth and profit of brokers and sales pipeline management for brokers. In consultation with the Regional Manager and/or Broker Manager, ensure that broker service meets and/or exceeds agreed levels in terms of quality and timeliness. Accountable for achievement of growth and profit objectives for assigned brokers as per branch plan. Maintain underwriting and ethical standards in accordance with market leadership position. This is a permanent role based in Christchurch. Whilst we encourage flexible working, this role will require you to work out of the office for at least 2 days a week, preferably Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Relevant experience in sales distribution with the insurance industry. Relationship management at a senior level within the insurance broker market. Experience in strategic account management. Strong relationship building and stakeholder management skills. Commercial awareness and understanding of the local commercial insurance market. Sound decision-making skills with the ability to exercise judgment. Proactive, self-motivated and success orientated.
