Building Control Officer (Processing)

Details of the offer

At MPDC we are proud to work for our community and we are looking for somebody who shares this passion. We provide a flexible, supportive working environment with plenty of laughter, opportunities to learn and develop and we have a range of employee benefits to offer.
About the role
The key focus of this role is processing building consent applications and answering customer enquiries. This is a full-time, permanent position based in our Matamata office.
The salary for the role is between $76,000 and $100,000 per annum based on your qualifications, experience and accredited competencies.
Needing to relocate? Not a problem as we can offer a relocation allowance and support for the right candidate.
About you
Ideally we are looking for somebody with prior experience in a building control (or similar) role. To be successful you will need the following skills:
A good understanding of the NZ Building Act and regulations and preferably prior experience processing building consent applications.
A qualification in accordance with regulation 18.
Good communication skills with the ability to work with customers to identify solutions for complex situations.
Why choose us?
There are many great things about working at MPDC. But the top ranked reason our staff give time and time again is 'the people'. We have a dynamic work environment with plenty of laughter and a great staff culture. We believe people are the key to the success of our organisation and we like to look after our own.
Some of the staff benefits we offer are:
Crediting current continuous local government service for the purpose of annual and long service leave entitlements.
The ability to earn performance payments.
Extra annual leave awarded with years of service.
Long service leave.
Sick leave on commencement of employment.
Partners paid parental leave.
Flexible work arrangements and a family friendly work environment.
Subsidies at council pool facilities.
Free parking.
Ongoing learning and development opportunities.
Access to wellbeing resources and workplace support.
The Matamata-Piako district has something for everyone - a stunning mountain with fantastic bushwalks on your doorstep and mineral spas to relax in after a hard day at work. There's all the benefits of living in a small town like safe communities, free parking and no traffic lights, but it's close enough to Hamilton and Tauranga to enjoy the city life.
