Agency for Science, Technology and Research – QueenstownISCE2 is seeking a highly motivated Biomanufacturing Scientist to our growing multi-disciplinary team to develop next generation sustainable technology for the biomanufacturing of fine and specialty chemicals. The scientist is responsible for the development and execution of biomanufacturing projects with moderate direct supervision. We are looking for an individual with a passion for science and sustainability who has a proven track record in development and optimization of fermentation science, bioprocess development, and/or downstream purification for biomanufacturing of sustainable chemicals.The successful candidate may be responsible for but not limited to:Led engineering and optimising for fermentation / bioprocess innovations for the sustainable bioproduction of chemicalsEstablish, optimize and characterize downstream processes for increasing yields and purifications.Responsibility including set up, operate and maintain manufacturing equipment, including cleaning, sanitation, routine upkeep.Maintain accurate records, analyze data and present research findings at local and international conferences, meetings, and to internal / external stakeholdersComfortable in the use of advanced technology, including AI/machine learning and computational design/ modeling/ analytics, to help accelerate developmentAble to lead an independent studyOpportunities for project and team managementWrite and publish high impact papers in peer-reviewed journals, alongside preparation of technical disclosures, patent applicationsSupport the Division in project ideation, technology development, and devise proposals for grant applications and industrial engagements.Represent the institute at industry meetings and eventsSupervise and mentor junior researchers, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environmentOther A*STAR, RI and lab duties and roles as assigned by the managerRequirements:PhD in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering or Biological Engineering or its equivalentStrong background fermentation science and bioprocess development, especially gas or anaerobic fermentation>3 years of post-PhD experience preferred, though talented fresh PhDs are acceptedExperience with use and operation of bioreactorsAdaptable to team-oriented goals and requirementsRigorous data analysis, interpretation, analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent oral/written communication and ability to work in cross-functional teamsStrong time management, documentation and organization skillsMeticulous, attention to details and organizedAbility to prioritize responsibilities and multi-taskISCE2 offers a challenging and rewarding work environment with opportunities for career development.
