About the Team/Service/ Location
The Whaikaha Unit is a 4-bed in-patient Intellectual Disability (ID) unit at Hillmorton Hospital. We provide specific regional clinical assessment and treatment to our tangata whaiora who present with challenging behaviour and, if subject to the Intellectual Disability Compulsory Care and Rehabilitation Act (IDCC& R Act 2003), will have forensic considerations in their support plans.
About the Role
The Behaviour Support Facilitator will play a vital role in supporting and enhancing service delivery by working closely with our clinical psychologist and multidisciplinary team. Your work will ensure that individuals with diverse and complex needs receive comprehensive and effective behaviour support.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive functional assessments of behaviour and monitor changes in response to interventions.
Provide timely, high-quality written reports and data analysis.
Develop and implement behaviour support plans using a Positive Behaviour Support framework.
Deliver empirically based behavioural interventions to individuals or groups with complex needs.
Partner with the Whaikaha clinical psychologist, engaging in supervision and collaborative practice.

About you
Essential Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in psychology.
Master's degree.
Training in Applied Behavioural Analysis.
Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support.

General Skills

Exceptional time management, documentation, and clinical assessment skills.
Proven expertise in mental health assessment and intervention.
Strong teamwork abilities and professional conduct.
Full driver's license.
Ability to work independently, take initiative, and adapt to varying service delivery needs.
Clear and effective communication of behavioural concepts to multidisciplinary teams.
Demonstrated experience in a multi-professional team.
Experience working with neurodiverse individuals.
Understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi and commitment to biculturalism and cultural diversity.
Providing education, consultation, and supervision to colleagues.
Experience working within complex systems.
Setting up and delivering group interventions.
