Want a childcare job that provides you with your own space to live, and a great base to travel the South Island?We are a dairy farming family in Mid Canterbury. Dad is full time on the farm, and Mum is back to work 3-4 days a week, so we are looking for a fun and energetic Au Pair to look after our 3 year old girl, and 1 year old boy from early July until just before Christmas.We are a laid back but busy family, and will be looking for someone who can slot in with us. We like to see people go and explore our beautiful country as much as possible! We will both be at home for periods of the day while you’re working, so if you haven’t had a huge amount of experience with children, this doesn’t matter as long as enjoy their company and you’re willing to learn.We are 10 minutes from Methven, just over an hour to Christchurch and an easy weekend trip to many South Island destinations including Queenstown, Wanaka, Hanmer, Akaroa, Kaikoura, Abel Tasman etc, so are well placed for you to make the most of the South Island. Mt Hutt skifield is close by as well, and we can be a bit flexible around days off to suit the weather if you ski.If you have experience in farming, there could be the opportunity to do some work on farm as well.Duties would include:Keeping our little ones entertained while we are at workDoing some general tidying and basic house cleaningSome meal prepPossibly some town trips and taking the kids to play groups and activities in timeWhat we are looking for:Someone to start at the beginning of July and finish prior to Christmas. We do have some flexibility in the start dateA person who loves children, is able to be organised, and shows initiativeExperience with young children is preferable but not essentialSomeone who has a current visa for working in New Zealand and has a full drivers licenceWhat the package will include:Minimum of 25 hours/week of childcare work, with this being over 3-4 days. We can be somewhat flexible with when these hours are, so if you are wanting to do trips away we can arrange more days off in a row. There will be some scope for extra hours on the remaining weekdays and evenings if you’re interested.Single or shared accommodation – You will live in either a single quarters or may share a house with one of our team (both female) in walking distance of our house. If you don’t already have a car, we can have one available for personal use when you’re not working, note that fuel for personal use will be at your own cost. If you already have a car – no worries, we can adjust the package to account for this.Transparent remuneration package at an hourly rate, with a guaranteed minimum of 50 hours a fortnight paid.If you’re interested in our role, please send us your CV and a bit about why you would like the job, along with at least 2 references.
