The Company
Aurora Energy is putting significant investment into its networks throughout the Otago region. It's a time of exciting and positive change as a new organisation, working hard to support our community's future growth. If your ideal role is one where you can utilise your engineering expertise while adding value and make your mark on asset management, by embracing a strategic approach and industry best practice, then this is the role for you!
The Role
A key member of the Asset Management team, you will be heavily involved in developing, reviewing and preparing asset renewal, refurbishment and maintenance plans and strategies that mirror best practice technically and commercially. You will also work on immediate asset needs; using your engineering judgement to prioritise, problem solve and create clear work scopes to meet customers' needs and regulatory requirements.
As one of three engineers responsible for Aurora's Zone Substations and Underground Network, you'll utilise your strong technical knowledge in maximising their life in a safe and reliable manner.
As a team, the collective will set strategic direction. When it comes to technical problem solving - you will both benefit from the support of your team, but also play a role in supporting them. This will see you collaborating with the wider Asset Management & Planning, Works Delivery, Network Operations, and Contracting teams.
About You
You will enjoy a fast-paced, innovative and collaborative environment.
A proactive individual and an active contributor you will be comfortable making risk-based decisions or recommendations.
With strong communication skills, you will likely come from a similar role in asset engineering. Alternatively, you may bring relevant engineering experience related to substations and underground electricity networks and be wanting to transition into asset management.
Either way, you will have a good understanding of HV and MV electrical assets, including knowledge of failure modes and control measures. Experience with substations, power transformers and substations is advantageous. Additionally, you will hold a tertiary qualification related to electrical engineering.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Asset Lifecycle Lead - Stations and Underground, this position will be joining an Asset Management & Planning Team with a dynamic makeup, that has a broad range of skills and experience.
With Aurora further developing its asset management maturity and investing heavily in strengthening its Asset Management System, there is significant opportunity to contribute to developing and enabling the ambitious asset management maturity goals they have defined. This includes contributing to the development of risk-based decision-making tools and models that will be important tools for systematically informing lifecycle decisions.
