We are seeking a passionate and driven leader to oversee the operation and maintenance teams of the Whanganui District Council's Aquatic Services. Our aim is to continue improving the quality customer experiences for all that visit our aquatic centres (Splash Centre and Whanganui East Pool) by ensuring we are future focused with our delivery and planning of maintenance, recruitment, and overall business development.
Salary range for this position is $86,000 to $95,285 per annum
Permanent, full-time role (40 hours per week) working 5 days a week, inclusive of one weekend day
Leading a collaborative team of 30, this role reports directly to the Aquatics Services Manager and includes:
Responsibility for leading the Splash Centre operations and maintenance teams
Collaboratively ensuring operations are safe and efficient, driving continuous improvement across aquatic programming and services
Development of maintenance plans and programmes to ensure an efficient, well managed programme of works is in place that gives the least disruption to customers
Actively involved with PoolSafe audits and compliance activities
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role you will have:
At least 5 years' experience in staff leadership, recreational/aquatic centre operations and programme delivery
Proven ability to interpret and action emergency procedures
Demonstrable computer skills in corporate and project management systems and applications
Proven leadership and staff management skills including coaching, mentoring and staff training abilities
Pool Lifeguard Practising Certificate
Certificate in Water Treatment (Pools) - Training can be provided to successful candidate
Relevant experience with Health and Safety policies and procedures
Mechanical experience with pool plant and asset management
Direct experience with operational asset management planning
Experience in or knowledge of the local government sector
Practical experience of delivering projects, services and programmes in a public sector environment
Comprehensive First Aid qualifications
