Application Engineer at NZ Ministry of Justice, Wellington City Te whiwhinga mahi/The Opportunity
As part of the Case Services team, you will be working as an Application Engineer, responsible for the implementation of an application's build, test, release, deployment, and configuration activities. Application Engineers are required to interact, develop, engineer, and communicate collaboratively at the highest technical levels with customers, suppliers, and all levels of Ministry staff.
To be successful in this role you will be able to communicate effectively, have good attention to detail, the ability to learn rapidly and be focussed on delivering high quality outcomes to our customers.
Experience and knowledge
Senior level experience as an application engineer (4 to 5 years)
Experience in developing Oracle APEX applications.
Programming languages and frameworks appropriate to the Ministry's context including Oracle PL/SQL, Oracle SQL, Java, Spring, React, VBA.
Experience in Ministry applications including the Justice Application Express (JAX) is an advantage.
Experience with AWS cloud services such as Lambda function using Node JS as the language, SQS, CloudSearch, S3 and CI/CD using SAM/Cloudformation for Development environment.
Knowledgeable in GIT and setting up of mock services in Postman.
Willingness to learn both old and new technologies.
Experience in working on incidents and change requests as part of BAU application support.
Contributing to the implementation of Continuous Integration and / or DevOps.
Agile application development and testing in product development teams.
Working as a member of a product and services development team with varying unit goals but shared organisational goals.
Communicating with a wide range of audiences on a range of complex issues.
Able to build and maintain a range of effective business relationships within an organisation and a wide network of professional relationships across organisations.

The appointing salary for this role will be between $103,226 - $144,034 based on skills and experience.
