We have a unique opportunity for a senior operational leader to take ownership of a long-term contract and customer relationship in the beautiful Far North.
The Opportunity
The Far North Waters Alliance is a collaboration between Ventia and the Far North District Council. The Alliance is tasked with the operation and maintenance of the Council's water-related assets and infrastructure.
You
We are looking for an experienced leader who understands how to build and maintain collaborative B2B relationships, preferably in maintenance and/or industrial environments. Experience in managing Water or Utilities infrastructure will be an advantage, as would the winning and delivery of capital projects. You will need to demonstrate you are equipped for the challenges of managing a programme that includes asset and infrastructure planning and management, capital works tenders and delivery, operation and maintenance of treatment plants, pump stations, and water networks.
Your track record of building strong working relationships with clients will have prepared you for success in the Alliance environment where we share our office space and reporting lines with client representatives and where success is dependent upon mutually beneficial outcomes.
Your collaborative, inclusive approach to leadership will help you to build a strong, engaged working culture in your management group and across your team of roughly 60 people, which includes mechanical, electrical, and civil skill sets. You will support the Alliance's engagement with Iwi through demonstrating knowledge and understanding of Te Ao Maori and promotion of tikanga and Te Reo Maori. You will also have knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations. Your astute understanding of commercial impacts will enable you to identify and capitalise on opportunities for cost reduction and achieve your financial targets.
Capability and Experience
• Experience at Contract or Business management level.
• Excellent relationship management skills. Alliance or JV experience is a strong preference.
• Experience in the management of annual budgets between $15m and $20m.
• A track record of commercial success in a comparable environment.
• A continuous improvement mentality and the ability to identify opportunities for improved efficiency and cost reduction.
• Experience in maintenance management, running competitive tenders, and delivering capital projects will be well regarded.
• High EQ communication style.
